Two Good Men

August 8, 2021

We had to say goodbye to a couple of really good friends this weekend.

Steven Doughty passed away after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Like a true warrior he never complained about his condition. He even helped the Haywood for Congress campaign in the Kernersville 4th of July Parade just last month.

NC House Representative and Reverend Jerry Carter succumbed to complications from surgery after contracting an extremely rare bacterial infection. He and Brenda were part of a group from the 6th District that traveled to see Congressman Walker play in the Congressional Baseball Game and see the sights in Washington. We had a great time and he would often ask me when we were going back. I would usually respond that it was a lot of work to put a trip like that together.

Now, I would give my right arm to be with him at the Lincoln Memorial looking down the Mall to the Capitol.
These were two of the nicest, most down to earth people I have ever met.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Dianne Doughty and Brenda Carter and their families as they go through this painful time.
I will miss Steve and Jerry very much and wish I had more time to spend with them. In their memory I vow to work even harder to save and protect our country from those that wish to destroy her.
